The 'Clean' side of the PCV system is aslo known as the Crankcase Vent (CCV). It allows clean, filtered 'makeup' air to enter the crankcase to flush out fumes and impurities that are carried away when intake manifold vacuum draws them out of the PCV ('Dirty' side). When the engine is under BOOST and crankcase pressure increases, oil can be forced back out of the Clean Side CCV and into the air intake system. This Clean Side Catch Can system is designed to control any oil ingestion that occurs at the inlet of the clean side and eliminates oil vapors from entering the air intake.
